If you gotta run, why not have fun?

This year the PTSA will sponsor the Rock-n-Run! It is our biggest fundraiser, and it provides an amazing opportunity for the community to come together in a show of support for our students.

The funds earned will be used for projects such as Beautify Alki, hosting career day, bringing OMSI and Civil War Reenactment groups to our students, and supporting our staff and the programs and projects they hope to fund.

This year we are hoping to raise enough money to help our long term goal of installing a Filtered Water Bottle Station in each wing (see picture below) in our school.  Our goal is to raise $4,000.  If we reach our goal, the 2nd water bottle filling station will be added to the wing of the school based on which grade brought in the most money.

Need even more incentive?

How about 1 week of no pacers?!?  Every student who brings in at least $50 in Rock n Run Pledges will be awarded a week of no pacers.

The Run will take place throughout the school day, on Tuesday, April 23rd. Students will run during their usual gym period, just as they would during conditioning day. Students are given a pledge form before the event so that they may seek pledges from family, neighbors and others in the community. After the Run, their laps are tallied and students are then asked to collect the pledges and return them to the school.

Healthy snacks, fruit, and water are provided for all the runners. We ask volunteers to consider donating snacks and/or helping the day of the event.  It’s a great way to meet other volunteers and to watch your students give it their best on the track! The students especially like the added encouragement and cheers – plus, there will be music blaring all day (that’s the ‘ROCK’ part)!  If you would like to donate, please go to the RNR_Donations page.
